Who is not being seen?
Who is not being heard?
Who is not being loved?
Who is not being helped?

I am a gay, Arab, immigrant journalist driven by these four questions.

l am equally comfortable at LVMH’s startup hub in Paris, beside the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Abbey, at a research station in the Alaskan Arctic, refugee camps in Palestine, a wool farm in Australia, gay bars in Havana, foraging forests in Sweden, the Incan ruins of Peru, helipad swordplay in Tokyo, pizza contests in Italy, or an olive oil wrestling tournament in the Turkish countryside. I have reported from dozens of countries — not always with permission. As much as I can, I live in New York.

Before I was a journalist, I was a missionary in China, a ranch hand in Colorado, and a hitchhiker in Costa Rica.
